James T. “Ollie” Oliver, age 78, of Millsboro, DE, formerly of Aston, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, DE.

Born in Aston, PA, on August 17, 1948, he was a proud graduate of Sun Valley High School, Class of 1968. He went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army from 1969 to 1972, earning numerous awards for his service.

Following his honorable discharge, he began a long and dedicated career with ConocoPhillips, where he worked for 40 years. He later continued his career as a consultant at Calumet Oil Refinery in Great Falls, Montana, before retiring.

Jim was a true outdoorsman who found happiness in the beauty and quiet of nature. He loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed the time spent outdoors doing the things he loved. But above all, he treasured his family. He was deeply loved by his large extended family and will be remembered for the special place he held in the hearts of those around him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved only daughter, Christine Oliver Sorton.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 56 years, Mary (Fisher) Oliver, as well as several nieces, nephews, and godsons who will carry his memory with them and cherish the many years and memories they shared with him.

Jim’s life was one of service, hard work, love of the outdoors, and devotion to family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his memory will live on through the family and friends whose lives he touched.

Services and burial will be private at the family’s request.
