James Anthony Filan, 72 of Dagsboro, Delaware died at his residence on October 26, 2025.

Born on June 26, 1953 in Philadelphia, PA to the late John James Filan and Rita Crail, James was a longtime Philadelphia resident prior to moving to Newark, DE, Kill Devil Hills, NC and then settling in Dagsboro.

James graduated from West Catholic Boys High School in Philadelphia, then made a successful 40-year career with United Airlines prior to his retirement.   In his retirement James enjoyed reading mystery novels, learning to play guitar, making home improvements, joking with family and friends.  But mostly, James enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents James is preceded in death by his brother John Filan.  James is survived by his loving wife Annunciata "Nancy" Filan (nee Casini) along with their blended children Maryann Austin (Bob), Jessica Chun (Andy), Jeanine Begatto (Christopher) and Tina Davis.  James also leaves behind his grandchildren Brooks, Christopher, Nicolas and Sofia.  His siblings Kathleen Reed (Michael), Penny Eby (Tony), Peter Filan (Karen), Meg Dzedzy (Don) and his sister-in-law Dorothy.  James also leaves behind his dear friends Kevin Emmell and Doug Hendricks.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 from 10am-11:30am at St. Ann Catholic Church located at 691 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach.  A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:30am.  Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

Flowers are appreciated along with donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
