James Andrew Carey, age 63, of Ocean View, DE passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE.

Jim was born in Washington, D.C. on June 29, 1960, the son of James Alonzo Carey and Margaret Patricia (Porter) Carey.  He was a graduate of Maryland University with a degree in computer science.

He was currently employed in customer service at the Giant in Millville, DE.  Jim loved his job, and his co-workers loved him.  He had a strong sense of family and enjoyed spending time with them any chance he got.  Jim also had a love learning as he loved taking photography and art classes and guitar lessons.  He enjoyed gardening, painting and studying his genealogy.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, James Alonzo Carey.  He is survived by his mom, Pat Carey of Ocean View, DE; a sister, Patricia Ann Hill of Mount Airy, MD; a brother, Kevin Patrick Carey and his wife, Kathleen of Mount Airy, MD; two nephews, Tim Kurak of Dover, DE and Brennan Carey of Mount Airy, MD and a niece, Brielle Carey of Mount Airy, MD and several cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at St. Ann Catholic Church, 691 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach, DE 19930, where friends and family may gather after 1 PM.  Interment will be held privately. Refreshments will be served after the service at St. Ann Hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Jim's name to Diabetes Foundation
