Jacquie Christman, 78

Jacqueline Meyer Sibley Christman, age 78, of Bethany Beach, DE, passed away suddenly on October 26, 2025. After courageously facing a long battle with Alzheimer's, she died at home with her devoted husband, Larry Christman, by her side.

Jacquie was born on May 13, 1947, in Newark, DE, to Robert (Bob) and Gladys Meyer. She graduated from Newark High School, Goldey-Beacom Business College, and the University of Mary Washington. Jacquie held many jobs throughout her life, including flight attendant on a private airline and assistant to the Dean of the University of Virginia, but her true passion was teaching. As a high school teacher, she inspired and guided thousands of students to be their best selves.

In 1970, Jacquie married William (Bill) Sibley, and together they raised two sons, Michael and Ben. The family lived in several towns across Virginia before eventually settling in Bill's hometown of Woodstown, New Jersey. Jacquie faced profound loss with grace and strength—Michael passed away at just eight years old after being struck by a vehicle, and years later, Bill lost his courageous battle with melanoma at age fifty.

Jacquie persevered and found love again after reconnecting with her high school sweetheart, Christopher (Larry) Christman. Together they shared nearly 30 wonderful years of marriage, living in Massachusetts and New Jersey before retiring to Bethany Beach, Delaware.

Bethany Beach was woven into the fabric of Jacquie's life—from her earliest memories to her final days, the water was where she found peace. Jacquie had a servant's heart and was always the first to lend a hand, dedicating countless hours to volunteer work throughout her life. She treasured the rhythm of a good book, the artistry of capturing life's moments through her award-winning photography, the peace of walking along the water's edge, and the joy of twisting to her favorite oldies. Among life's many blessings, her two grandchildren, Colton and Savannah Sibley, were a constant source of joy—the mere mention of them would instantly light up her face with the brightest smile.

Jacquie lived a life rich with adventure—she ascended the Eiffel Tower and the World Trade Center, fed sea lions in San Francisco, explored temples and shopped for kimonos in Japan, wandered the fashion houses of Milan, sipped wine in Italian vineyards, selected Swarovski crystals in Austria, dove into the underwater world of Cozumel, discovered the wonders of the Galápagos Islands through snorkeling, birdwatching, and volcano hikes, served on a mission trip to Nepal, and even spent a night in an ice hotel in Alberta.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Christman; her son, Ben Sibley; her stepdaughter, Cynthia Christman; her daughter-in-law, Shauntel; her grandchildren, Colton and Savannah; her brother, Dale Meyer; and her cousin, Linda Russell.

A Celebration of Life will be held on November 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Matthews by the Sea in Fenwick Island, DE. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Mission Committee at St. Matthews by the Sea, a cause especially close to Jacquie's heart.
