Ian J. "Dean" Levy, age 84, of Bethany Beach, DE, formerly of Washington, D.C., passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Lofland Park Center in Seaford, DE. Dean was a beloved and highly respected history and political science teacher at Anacostia High School in Washington, D.C., where he made a lasting impact on generations of students and colleagues. After retiring, he relocated to his favorite place on earth—Bethany Beach—where he quickly became a beloved local figure, affectionately known by many as "The Unofficial Mayor" of Bethany Beach. Dean is survived by his longtime friend, Marc, Luanne, Jennifer, and Todd Stanley who were a source of great companionship and support throughout his later years. In accordance with Dean's wishes, services and burial will be private.
