Herbert "Buddy" Glass, age 81, of Ocean View, DE, passed away peacefully in his home on February 19th, surrounded by his loving family.

Buddy was born on July 30, 1942, in Radford, Virgina.  He was son of the late Herbert Morgan Glass and the late Eunice Begliomini.  His family moved to Wilmington, DE when he was a child.  In February of 1960, he entered the Air Force, where he served as a jet engine mechanic for four years during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1964.

Buddy spent much of his career working in the chemical manufacturing industry, largely in Delaware City, DE and Monongahela, PA.  He traveled throughout the United States and Southeast Asia assisting in new manufacturing plant startups.  He was an industry expert in environmental health and safety and was often called to respond to hazardous chemical incidents throughout the country, where he helped direct clean up and containment activities.  During these incidents, he frequently had to speak with the media, and would later tell us "They could never get the story right".  He retired in 2001 and moved to Ocean View, DE.

Buddy was a strong supporter of numerous Veterans and First Responder organizations, such as Wounded Warrior Project, Paralyzed Veterans of America, and Tunnel to Towers Foundation.  He also supported the St. Joseph's Indian School in South Dakota, which provides free education to Lakota (Sioux) children.

Buddy is survived by his wife of 59 years, Colleen (Regetz) Glass; son Jeff Glass and daughter-in-law Jill Glass of Harrisburg, PA; daughter Jennifer Angotti and "son-in-law" David "Butch" May of Newark, DE; granddaughter Madison Angotti, and grandsons Logan Angotti, Tyler Glass, and Brendan Glass.

Funeral services will be held on March 21st at 11am at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, DE.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to any of the causes mentioned above.
