Grace I. Dixon, age 75, of Gumboro, DE was wrapped in the arms of angels and brought home to her heavenly Father on Monday, February 12, 2024.

She was born September 9, 1948 in Gumboro, Delaware daughter of the late Oliver Z. Lecates and Kathleen (Foskey) Lecates.

Grace was a graduate of Millsboro High School Class of 1966 and received her LPN diploma from Sussex Vo-Tech in 1967. She worked in private duty homecare for several years and also in nursing homes in Delaware, Maryland and Florida. Grace also sold Avon for 20 years.

She was a member of the Lewes-Rehoboth Moose Lodge #646, Lewes-Rehoboth Women of the Moose #1814 and a lifetime member of Gumboro Ladies Auxiliary.

Grace dearly loved her husband, children and grandchildren. She enjoyed talking with close friends on the phone, going to church and going to hear southern gospel music groups.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by a grandchild, baby Sauers; her father-in-law, John Harvey Dixon; mother-In-law, Theresa Dixon and sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Lecates.

She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, David L. Dixon. Also surviving are two children, John Zachary Dixon (Diana) of Laurel, DE and Zandra Sauers (Mark Wing) of Georgetown, DE; four grandchildren, John Z. Dixon, Jr., Bailey Dixon, Sean Dixon and Timothy Sauers; brother, Rev. Edward S. Lecates, Ph.D. of High Point, NC; nephew, Dr. Samuel Lecates (Rachel) of Palm City, FL; niece, Dawn Packer (Lester) of High Point, NC; step mother-in-law, Pearl Dixon of Salisbury, MD; three sisters-in-law, Dorcas Morrow (Skip) of Circleville, OH, Gloria Snyder (Skip) of Delmar, DE and Lois Ruark (Gary) of Delmar, DE and a brother-in-law, Joseph Dixon (Annette) of Delmar, DE and several cousins.

The family wishes to express their great appreciation to the nurses and staff at Nanticoke Hospital, the Moorings and Dr. Buzalewski who had provided Grace with excellent care during her last few months.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 6 to 8 P.M. at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher Street, Frankford, DE. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 A.M. on Friday, February 16, 2024 at the funeral home where friends and family may gather after 9 A.M. Interment will follow at the Millsboro Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Grace's name to God's Missionary Church, 29424 Connelly Mill Road, Delmar, DE 21875.
