On the morning of Friday, May 15th 2026, Gloria Helene Gibbs, drew her last breath and departed this world for a realm that is pain free, and where she can eat potato chips guilt free.  Our mother, aunt, grandmother, sister and dear friend was a bright shining beacon to those that knew her and enjoyed her loving aura.  She was always willing to be there for those she cared for, and her leaving will be a hole that simply will never be filled on this world.

Gloria was born on September 22nd, 1941, to Helen Elizabeth Toriski and Walter Frank Schneller Jr. in Titusville Pennsylvania.  But, shortly afterwards was adopted by her father Curt W. Haedke and grew up as Gloria Helene Haedke in the Dobbs Ferry, Yonkers and Hastings areas of New York.  After graduating secretarial school she worked for her father's textile company, C Haedke & Company Inc before getting married and moving to the Salt Lake Area of Utah. It was here she became the mother to her two boys Kent James and Craig Richard Homewood.  She made many friends in Utah and had many wonderful memories with her 54 years in the Salt Lake Valley.   While in Utah she worked at First Security, the accounts receivable department for Sperry Corporation and as the plant director assistant at Clover Club and Bordens in Kaysville Utah.

It was her time at Sperry Corporation that she met her beloved Grant in 1985 and later married in 1988.  It was those 23 years that she felt the most loved and valued and she remembers as the happiest time of her life.  Grant and Gloria bought their house in Layton where they would sit together on the back patio and listen to "the sound of freedom" fly over their house as jets left and landed at Hill Air-force base.

Four years after Grant's passing in 2015, Gloria moved to the Millsboro, Delaware township to be back east near family and friends.  But here she made many friends that she cherished as the leader of the local TOPS chapter.  This group became her obsession and something she prized above everything.  She was proud of the TOPS members and all that they accomplished maintaining a healthy lifestyle.  She displayed poise and leadership to better the lives of the many members she called her Delaware family with a grin and twinkle in her eye.  Now that twinkle has faded but, Gloria would want everyone that she knew to continue living a healthy lifestyle and to keep dancing.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Carol (Milt) Chambers, Helen Rita (Beng) Haedke/Ooi, Daughter In Law Lynette Homewood and survived by her sister Marianne (Barry) Botman, and her brother Curt (Elizabeth) Haedke, and her two sons Kent (Monica) and Craig (Sharon) Homewood. Several nieces, nephews, her 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.  Mom, we will always love you, we will miss you and we hope to make you proud when we see you again in the future as we share guilt free potato chips.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon on Friday, May 22, 2026, at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, DE 19966.
