George W. Wingate, Jr., age 77, of Dagsboro, DE passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at his home.

George was born in Lewes, DE on June 3, 1946 son of the late George W. Wingate, Sr. and the late Harriet E. (Murray) Wingate.  He graduated from Lord Baltimore Class of 1964 and served in the Delaware National Guard.

George was a crop and chicken farmer for many years and served as a flock supervisor for Perdue for over 20 years prior to his retirement.  In his younger years, he enjoyed racing go-carts and was an avid hunter and fisherman.  George was a longtime and faithful member of the Frankford Community Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Ruth Ann Marvel and Nancy Steele.  George is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Lois (Brasure) Wingate; a son, G.W. Wingate, III; a grandson, Garrett Wingate; a brother, David Wingate and his wife, Susan; a sister, Virginia Rickards and her husband, Allan and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at Carey's Cemetery, Frankford Ave., Frankford, DE 19945.
