Frederick "Fred" S. Womer, age 82, of Selbyville, DE formerly of White Marsh, MD passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, November 15, 2024 in the comfort of his own home.

Fred was born in Baltimore, MD on May 17, 1942 son of the late Herbert S. Womer and the late Corinne (Kipp) McClogan Jameson.  He had attended the Augusta Military Academy in Virginia from the age of   10 to 15 and graduated from Dundalk High School in Dundalk, MD.  He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

Fred retired after 31 years of service from Baltimore Gas & Electric where he was an assistant sales manager.  He then went to work for Cloverland Dairy for another 13 years before retiring completely.

Fred was a true patriot and was devoted to his family.  He was a Marine through and through and actively participated in all types of Marine Corps activities and was a member of the American Legion Post #166 in Ocean City, MD where he enjoyed shooting pool.  He was a member of the Chorus of the Chesapeake and the Barbershop Harmony Society.  Fred will be remembered as a hard worker and an amazing husband, father and grandfather that could shoot a mean game of pool and also loved to golf.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Alice M. (Plempel) Womer; a son, Frederick "Freddie" Shawn Womer of York, PA; a daughter, Corinne McNutt and her husband, Scott of Selbyville, DE; three grandsons, Zachary C. Meyers and his wife, Hannah of Annapolis, MD, Tyler J. Meyers of Baltimore, MD and Alex F. Womer of York, PA.

A viewing will be held from 3-5 PM on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funereal Services, 43 Thatcher St., Frankford, DE 19945, where a funeral service along with military honors will begin at 5 PM.  Interment will be held privately at a later date at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, DE.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Fred's name to the Leathernecks, c/o American Legion Synepuxent Post 166, PO Box 63, Ocean City, MD 21843.
