Florence Breslin Shepherd, of Millsboro, Delaware, passed away on January 10, 2025, at the age of 98.

A native of Wilmington, Delaware, she was one of 13 children including a set of triplets.

She attended St. Elizabeth's Elementary School and was in the first graduating class of the high school in 1944, graduating with honors in shorthand and typing.

She went on to work for the DuPont company where she met her husband, Emil. They lived just a few miles south of Hockessin for thirty years, and she worked as a legal secretary during that time before retiring to Millsboro.

She was involved with her local AARP chapter and served as the publicity and program director.

Florence was president and public relations chairman of the Georgetown New Century Club. She was involved with the Health Ministry of her church, Mary Mother of Peace and served as public relations chairman for the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Post #28 in Millsboro.

Florence and her husband Emil were hospice volunteers, and they also delivered meals to the homebound for the Oak Orchard Cheer Center for several years. Florence enjoyed traveling, especially with her daughters, and always spoke fondly of her time in Ireland and Italy.

She is preceded by her loving husband, Emil A. Shepherd, Jr. Florence is survived by three daughters, Margaret Tau (Joel), Florence Brewer (Charles, deceased), Elizabeth Bross (Eric), and Emil A. Shepherd III, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Florence will be sadly missed by family and friends.
