Evelyn Jean Grace

June 22, 1928 – March 23, 2025

Evelyn Jean Grace, nee Deickman, age 96, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 23, 2025 in Lewes, Delaware.

Born in Baltimore, MD, and a longtime resident of Bel Air, Maryland, she had been residing with her daughter Donna Lee Grace in Dagsboro, Delaware.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents Leslie Linwood Deickman and Viola Koepper Deickman Porter; her loving husband Charles Gilmore Grace, Sr., son Charles (Chuck) Gilmore Grace, Jr; her daughter Barbara Grace Cottom; and her sisters Mildred Dreier and Dorothy Engler and brothers Leslie and Robert Deickman.

Jean was the strong and caring matriarch of her family. She created a loving home for Charlie and their children and shared in the joy of all their accomplishments. She was dearly loved by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and provided them with constant support and encouragement.

True to her Baltimore heritage, Jean enjoyed watching her favorite sports teams, the Orioles and the Ravens. She was a long-term member of a Bel Air bowling league and frequently rolled 300s.

Jean enjoyed traveling and road trips with her family, frequenting places like Norfolk, Charleston, Skyline Drive, Gettysburg and Germany. She rode shotgun, always with a map spread across her lap.

Jean and Charlie had been members of the Inverness Presbyterian Church in Dundalk, Maryland.

Jean is survived by her two daughters, Donna Lee Grace and Marsha S. Goodwin; three grandchildren and their spouses, Andrew Allan Grossman and Terry, Robert Gilmore Grossman and Beth and Amanda Grace Ingalls and Alex. She is also survived by her four great-grandchildren, Zachary Chase and Emily Grace Grossman and Alexander Charles and Ian Connor Grossman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will begin at 11 AM Saturday, April 5, 2025 at the Ocean View Presbyterian Church, 67 Central Ave., Ocean View, DE 19970.
