Ervin Robert McConaghy (Bob) of Long Neck, Delaware, passed away at home October 23, 2023.  His earthly journey may be through, but his energy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

He was born in Philadelphia, PA on April 4, 1947, the son of Ervin and Alma McConaghy.  He was predeceased by his wife, Mary, known as Mimi, the love of his life in 1982.  He is survived by his sister Judith (Leonard), nieces, Shanna (Brian), Laura (Ralph) and great nieces, Kestrel and Eowythe.

Bob deeply loved his family and often stated he gained a brother when his sister married. He adored his nieces and the story goes the two little nieces pronounced "my uncle" as "m'uncle" and from that day on he would be forever know as M'uncle Bob to them. His family would not be complete without his love of his constant companion, Lucy, a rescue dog from Providence Animal Shelter.  He often started messages with "me and Luce were thinking of you".

Bob graduated from Marple Newtown Sr. High School, PA.  He earned a BS Nursing at Neumann College, PA 1997, BA Psychology at Athens College, AL.1970 and AD Business at Valley Forge Military Academy Jr. College. He was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon.

Bob's love and willingness to care for people reflected in his nursing career from staff nurse up to Supervisor. He worked in the Beebe Healthcare and Main Line Health Systems as well as several nursing homes. He enjoyed playing Santa Clause at these homes.

Growing up with fond memories of the Jersey shore and his love of the beach brought him to Delaware in 2003. Along with the beach, Bob enjoyed crossword puzzles, muscle cars, lighthouses, and had the ability to eat hot peppers like candy. A great dancer, Bobby never passed up an opportunity to show off his rock and roll moves.

Bob was always available if someone needed a helping hand and often showed up with 'Big Blue', his beautiful 1999 Chevy Suburban.  With his big smile and nod of head, he would let you know he was there for you. He will be dearly missed and his memories cherished.

Bob's ashes will be laid to rest in Edgewood Memorial Gardens, PA with a private burial.
