Elizabeth Joan Hurley Beck "Betty", proud mother to five children; Michael (Emma), James (deceased, Leslie), Stephen (Christy), Matthew (Marianne) and Mary Angela, passed away two days short of her 90th birthday peacefully in the loving presence of her brother Pat and his wife Therese Hurley.  The love of her life was her husband of sixty-three years, James Bernard Beck (deceased). Until her final days Betty would repeatedly say that Jim was the nicest man she ever met.  Betty was full of life and known for her dynamic spirit and love of giving back, especially to the church she loved so much.  Betty will be dearly missed by all who knew her, especially her grandchildren.

Betty was born in Iowa, and lived in many places before settling in Knoxville, TN.  She was the daughter of Frank and Mary Angela Hurley.  Betty was the second oldest of fourteen children: Bonnie, Tony, Tish, Frank, Bert, Kathleen, Pat, Terry, Mary, Mike, Judy, Eddie and Danny.

Betty cherished her grandchildren, nineteen in total, who worshiped her right back.  In addition to the grandchildren Betty adored the 15 great grandchildren who added to her love of family.

Betty's spirit will live forever, she'll live with us as long as memories stay alive.

Mass for the Celebration of Life will be Monday, August 21st, St Ann's Catholic Church, 691 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach, DE 19930 at 11:00 am.
