Elaine Marie Buser, age 91, of Millsboro Delaware, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024. Born in Syracuse, New York, she was the daughter of Frank and Esther Wesley.

Elaine's life was marked by her service to her country, her devotion to her family, and her remarkable achievements as an entrepreneur and writer. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1952, where she graduated from the Navy Training Center in Bainbridge, Maryland. After completing her training at the Naval Supply School at Pomona Air Station in Atlantic City, New Jersey, she met and married Daniel Sylvester Buser Jr., who would be the love of her life.

Following their marriage, Elaine and Dan were stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, where she continued her education at Norfolk Business College, while Dan completed his service aboard the USS Iowa. It was in Norfolk that they welcomed their first daughter, Judy Ann . The family later moved to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where they had three more daughters—Kimberly Lynn, Susan Marie, and Chrissie Lee.

Elaine was a dedicated homemaker and active member of the community. She owned and operated a successful toy store and was involved in numerous civic organizations. Later, the family moved to Maryland, where Elaine and Dan co-authored a renowned antique guide, Schoenhut's Dolls, Toys, and Circus, and Elaine ran the Humpty Dumpty Doll Hospital, a successful antique doll restoration business.

Elaine also worked as a fashion consultant for a major women's clothing retailer and, in 1996, began writing newspaper articles for Judy's Show News publication. Throughout her life, she was a passionate pianist and watercolor artist, with many of her pieces reflecting her love of beauty and nature.

Elaine's greatest pride came from her family. She cherished surviving her country, raising her four daughters, and being surrounded by the love of her six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Daniel Sylvester Buser Jr.; a son-in-law, Dean Mengert; three sisters, Francine, Odette and Mary Lou and four brothers, Warren, Jerome, Raymond and John.

Elaine's memory will live on in the hearts of her daughters, Judy Ann Cloud, Kimberly Lynn Buser, Susan Marie Hobbs and her husband, David, and Chrissie Lee Maughan and her husband, Christopher; her six grandchildren, Danielle White and her husband, Cliff White, Kenneth "Mac" Cloud and his wife Jillian, Wes Hobbs and his wife, Maria, Ben Hobbs and his wife, Audrey, Gracie Maughan and Gretchen Maughan; her six great-grandchildren, Kenzie White, Maddi White, Max White, Edison Cloud, Harrison Cloud and Wade Hobbs; siblings, Collette Vokes and her husband John, Richard Wesley and his wife Ginny and Beverly White and her husband Mike; and sister-in-law Grace and her many friends, who will remember her for her warmth, resilience, and unwavering love for her family.

A visitation will be held from 10-11 AM on Friday, December 27, 2024 at The Crossing, 15183 Coastal Hwy., Milton, DE 19968, where a celebration of Elaine's life will begin at 11 AM, where family and friends are invited to celebrate her life and legacy.  The interment will be held privately at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Millsboro, DE.

In honor of Elaine's vibrant personality, the family requests that all those in attendance wear bright colors.
