Edwin “Ed” Ramich, age 88, of Millsboro, DE, formerly of Fleetwood, PA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, DE.
Ed was born in Reading, PA, on March 12, 1938. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1958 to 1961 as a tank driver and marksman. His time in the military helped provide him with stability and a strong foundation in his early adulthood, and he carried that sense of dedication and commitment with him throughout his life.
Ed retired from NGK Metals after more than 30 years of dedicated service as a metalworker. Never one to sit still for long, he began a second career following his retirement, putting his skills and talents to work as a carpenter with New Dimension Homes in the Long Neck area for several years. His strong work ethic and willingness to stay busy were defining qualities that served him well throughout his life.
Family was at the heart of Ed’s life. He shared 64 loving years of marriage with his beloved wife, Shirley Ramich, before her passing in 2022. Their many years together were a special and lasting part of his life. Ed was a devoted father and a proud, loving grandfather who treasured the time he spent with his family. Among his favorite memories were the times spent teaching his grandchildren how to fish, sharing not only his knowledge but also the simple joys of being together. He was an avid golfer and served as a starter and ranger at Baywood Greens in Long Neck. These moments created treasured memories that his family and friends will hold close to their hearts. Ed also enjoyed golfing and was a faithful member of Long Neck Methodist Church, where his faith was an important part of his life.
Ed will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his memory will live on through the family he cherished, the lessons he shared, and the many special moments that made his life meaningful.
He is survived by his son, Craig Ramich; two grandchildren, Chloe Ramich and her fiancé, Brandon Peysar, and Aidan Ramich; his sister, Dorothy Heath; and his companion, Dr. Joyce Beam.
A service to celebrate Ed’s life will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at Long Neck Methodist Church, 32051 Long Neck Road, Millsboro, DE 19966, where friends and family may gather beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, DE.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Ed’s name to Long Neck Methodist Church at the address listed above.
