Edwin J. MacDonald, of Lewes, Delaware, formerly of Wallingford, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, May 31, 2026, his 92nd birthday.

Born on May 31, 1934, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Ed was the son of the late Edwin J. MacDonald and Veronica B. (Garvey) MacDonald. He graduated from Ridley Township High School and attended Widener College. Ed proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Following his military service, Ed began a distinguished career with General Electric of 35 years, where he advanced into senior management. His work required extensive travel and several relocations throughout the years. Outside of his professional life, Ed was an avid sailor who navigated the East Coast waters from New England to the Florida Keys, including a few years of retirement with his wife in Fort Myers Beach, FL. His love of sailing inspired a passion for woodworking, a craft that brought him great satisfaction and joy throughout his life.

After settling in Delaware, while still navigating the waters of the Chesapeake Bay with his wife and family, Ed also became a devoted parishioner of Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church in Millsboro.

In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his sister, Mary M. Shea. He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 67 years, Evelyn (Fesco) MacDonald; his three daughters, Kathleen Northup and her husband, Dave, of Lansdale, Pennsylvania; Michele MacDonald of Reno, Nevada; and Jacqueline MacDonald of Lewes, Delaware.

Private services and burial are to be held at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, Delaware.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Ed’s name to the Wounded Warriors Project.
