Dorothy Watt Rieck (Dottie) died December 11, 2024 at home in Bethany Beach.

She was born August 21, 1946 in Cheverly, MD, the daughter of Dan Morgan Watt and Emily Traband Watt. When Dottie was three years old the family moved to Washington, DC where she attended school. She graduated from the Western High School in Washington and West Virginia University with a degree in mathematics.

Following college Dottie began her working career at the U.S. Navy's David Taylor Model Basin where she worked on computers until retirement. It was at the Model Basin that she met her husband Ken Rieck. During their careers the Riecks resided in Fairfax County, VA. Dottie's home always included pets, at first dogs then later cats.

Upon retirement Dottie and Ken moved to Bethany Beach, where they built a new home, fulfilling Dottie's dream since childhood to live at the beach.

At Bethany Beach Dottie was active in AARP and National Association of Retired Federal Employees, as well as bowling leagues and a knitting group.

Dottie is survived by Ken's children, Ginny Barry of Baltimore and Bob Rieck of Rockville, MD. She is also survived by a sister, Emily Coyne of Marquette, MI and a brother, Thomas Watt of York, PA and nine nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth C. Rieck, and her parents.

Funeral services will be at Saint Martha's Episcopal Church in Bethany Beach on Saturday, January 11, 2025. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. with the Rite for Burial of the Dead at 2 p.m. A luncheon will follow the service at the church. Interment will be at the Veteran's Cemetery at a later date.
