Doris Jones Obituary
Doris Jones was born on September 29, 1929, in Port Deposit, MD and lived most of her life in Rising Sun, MD. She passed away peacefully on April 18, 2024, at Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville, MD. Doris was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Doris was the daughter of the late Samuel Henry Montgomery and Minnie Naomi (Graybeal) Montgomery. She is survived by daughters Ruth Anne Endo and Kathleen Miller, son David Michael Jones and wife Lauren, daughter-in-law Susan Uhlan Jones, Grandchildren Jenny Huff Cone (Steve), Amy Huff, Nathan Huff (Wendy), Kristin Lindgren-Smyth (Rose), Kelsey Miller, Elizabeth Jones (Sean Eckert), Jennifer Jones (Ricky Truitt), Garrett Jones, Great-Grandchildren Tanner Cone, Naomi Lindgren-Smyth and Isabella, Ariella, McKella and Gabriella Truitt, her sister Ruth Brown (Wayne) plus numerous nieces and nephews. Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Fred. S. Jones, her son John Lyndon Jones, her siblings, Henry "Bud" Montgomery, Richard Montgomery, Paul Zane Montgomery, as well as his son-in-law Nori Endo.

In 1946 Doris graduated from Calvert School, Calvert, Maryland and then attended Goldey-Beacom College. Doris retired in 1991 as a Civilian Employee of the Department of the Army, Aberdeen Proving Ground, APG. MD. She was a founding leader of Calvert Girls 4-H club. Doris was known for the fabulous flowers in front of her home, her indoor violets, and her wonderful cooking. Doris was devoted to her entire family and loved participating in her children's, grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's events. Always a top-notch card and scrabble player later in her life she transitioned to a badge winning Words With Friends player.

A visitation will begin at 11am Saturday April 27, 2024, at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View, DE 19970; followed by a prayer service to begin at 11:30am. Interment will follow at Mariner Bethel Methodist Cemetery, 81 Central Ave, Ocean View DE. Reception to follow.
