Donald Carroll passed away at the age of 88 on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 peacefully at home surrounded by family. Don was born on August 26, 1935 in Troy, New York to Thomas and Dorthy Carroll. He joined the Air Force at the age of 17 and served during the Korean and Vietnam wars. During his time in the service he was stationed in the Presidential Squadron working on Air Force One. He married the love of his life Carol Cramer on July 27,1957. After 14 years in the Air Force he changed career paths and became a US Capitol police officer assigned to the Capitol Detail and later communications. He retired from US Capitol Police in 1986. Don would then go on to work for Pre trial release for Prince Georges County detention center. He permanently retired from the workforce on September 1, 1997.

On September 14, 1991 Don was ordained as a Deacon in the Catholic Church for the Dioceses of Washington. He was assigned to Holy Rosary Parish from 1991- 1999. He then moved to Delaware where he was then assigned to Mary Mother of Peace in Millsboro, Delaware. Don was the happiest when spending time with his family and performing his diaconate duties. He also very much enjoyed reading books on his kindle.

Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend. He is preceded in death by his wife Carol, his mother Dorthy Carroll, his father Thomas Carroll and a niece Terry Cramer. He leaves behind his daughter Lori Robinson, his son-in-law John Robinson, his grandchildren Bernadette Wildoner (Matthew Wildoner), Patrick Robinson (Mary Anne Robinson), his great grandchildren Christopher, Hannah, and Aiden, and his nephews David Cramer (Anne Marie - deceased) and Paul Cramer (Lisa Cramer).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 691 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach, DE, where friends and family may gather after 10 AM. Interment with military honors will immediately follow at Delaware Veterans Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE 19966.
