Dolores "Dee" Aniunas, age 71, of Selbyville, DE formerly of Bel Air, MD passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025 surrounded by her loving family at Christiana Care Hospital in Newark, DE.

Dee was born in New Brunswick, NJ on July 7, 1953 daughter of the late Peter Silowka and Margaret (Uram) Silowka.  After raising her children, Dee went to college to purse a degree in education.  She graduated from Notre Dame of Maryland University in 2000 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education.

Dee had served as a long-term substitute school teacher with the Harford County School System before serving as a third-grade teacher at Advent Lutheran Church in Forest Hill, MD for 13 years.  After retiring and moving to Delaware to be closer to the beach, she continued to impact the lives of children through her mentoring at the Southern Delaware School of the Arts in Selbyville, DE.

She was a faithful member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Forest Hill, MD and became a member at St. Luke Catholic Church in Ocean City, MD after moving to the Delaware shore.  Dee will be remembered as always being positive even through some of her recent health issues, having a keen sense of decorating and enjoyed traveling and going to the beach as much as she could.  Her love of family was of the most importance in her life and the time she spent with her grandchildren she always cherished.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Walter Silowka.  Dee is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, John Joseph Aniunas, Jr.; three sons, Kevin Aniunas and his wife, Kathryn of Parkland, FL, John Aniunas and his wife, Romy of Selbyville, DE and Mark Aniunas and his wife, Era of Malvern, PA; four cherished grandchildren, Ava Rose Aniunas, Emi Marie Aniunas, Zoe Aniunas and Kevin Aniunas; a brother, Peter Silowka and his wife, Debbie of Millstone, NJ; a sister-in-law, Linda Silowka of Allentown, PA and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, March 31, 2025 at St. Luke Catholic Church, 9903 Coastal Hwy., Ocean City, MD 21842, where friends and family may gather after 11 a.m.  Interment will be held privately at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Dagsboro, DE.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions in Dee's name to a charity of your choice.
