Diane L. Carey, age 67, of Dagsboro, DE passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, February 1, 2024.

Diane was born in Lewes, DE on February 13, 1956 daughter of the late Ralph James Banks and Dorothy Ann (Timmons) Banks.  She was a graduate of Indian River High School Class of 1974 and completed her Associates Degree in Nursing from Del Tech.

Diane was a Registered Nurse and EMT Firefighter.  She had worked as a live haul security officer for Allen Family Foods in Harbeson eventually becoming an LPN and RN there in the early 80's.  Diane had also worked as a RN at Milford Memorial Hospital and also for Delaware Hospice.  She was a seasonal Dispatcher for the Dewey Beach Police Department and was an EMT at the Delaware International Speedway for over 30 years.

Diane was a lifetime member of the Dagsboro Volunteer Fire Company with 30 years of service, served on the Board of Adjustments for the Town of Dagsboro and was involved in the Girl Scouts for over 30 years.  She loved dirt track racing, gardening, crabbing, fishing, camping and golf cart racing.  Diane also had a passion for cake decorating, quilting, photography and doing arts and crafts with her granddaughter, Alison.

She is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, Ronn Alan Carey; a daughter, Jaime Swartz and her husband, Aaron of Dagsboro, DE and a granddaughter, Alison Swartz.

A full Firefighter's Funeral will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher St., Frankford, DE 19945, where friends and family may gather after 9 AM.  Interment will follow at Millville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Diane's name to the Dagsboro Volunteer Fire Company Banquet Hall Fund, PO Box 128, Dagsboro, DE 19939.
