Dennis F. Nyahay, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and respected member of his community, passed away leaving behind a legacy of hard work, family, and service.

Dennis was born on June 4, 1943, in Yonkers, New York, to Dorothy (Santacroce) and Frank Nyahay. As a young boy, he grew up working in his father's grocery store, an experience that instilled in him a strong work ethic and sense of responsibility that would guide him throughout his life.

He attended Iona Preparatory School before continuing his education at Villanova University. In the fall of 1962, Dennis married his high school sweetheart, Alexandra Giorgio. Their enduring partnership was the cornerstone of his life, and they remained together devotedly until the very end.

Following his education, Dennis joined the Mt. Kisco, New York carpenters' union, where he developed and refined his craft over many years. In 1974, he purchased a building in the Red Mills section of Mahopac, which would become his kitchen design showroom. In 1975, he and Alex founded Old Red Mills Home Decorators in Mahopac, New York. The business became a beloved local fixture — a true mom-and-pop shop — run with pride and dedication until their retirement in 2001, when they relocated to Delaware. They were also snowbirds in Jensen Beach Florida, maintaining a home for 35 years, where he enjoyed scuba and snorkeling.

Dennis was deeply committed to his community. He was an active member of the Putnam Jaycees, the Lions Club, and the Elks Club in Yorktown. He also gave his time generously as a Little League baseball coach in Mahopac and taught evening classes for the Mt. Kisco carpenters' union, sharing his knowledge and experience with others in the trade.

In later years, Dennis developed a passion for golf and became an avid player. After settling in Delaware, he joined the Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club, where he enjoyed the game and the friendships it brought. Dennis was also an avid reader and enjoyed travel.

Dennis is survived by his children, William (Lisa) Nyahay and Denise (Paul) Lindsay; his cherished grandchildren, Nicole and Eric Lindsay, and Joseph Nyahay; and his sister-in-law, Ronnie Radalin, along with his niece, Veronica Radalin, and nephews, Marshall and William Mumford. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Peter Nyahay.

Dennis will be celebrated in a private Catholic Mass in the Philadelphia area, with the date and time to be determined. An announcement with further details will be shared in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice.
