David Michael Townsend, age 68, of Dagsboro, DE passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at his home.

Dave was born in Frankford, DE on September 23, 1956 son of the late George Allen Townsend and the late Mary Elizabeth Littleton Townsend.  He was a self-employed painter owning DT Painting where he was subcontractor for Jim Parker Builders and self-proclaimed himself as "the best painter".

Dave took great pride, was very meticulous in his work and worked hard to provide for his family. He had a great sense of humor and was willing to give the shirt off of his own back to help someone in need.  Dave was also a Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed watching sci-fi movies and TV shows.  Dave will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather and was willing to do anything for his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Vicky Franklin and Barbarann Farrell.  Dave is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Marina (Cortez) Townsend; four children, Ricky Townsend and his wife, Leslie of Dagsboro, DE, Erica Townsend of Dagsboro, DE, Jessica Townsend Phillips and her husband, Glenn of Frankford, DE and George Townsend of Dagsboro, DE; 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.  Dave is also survived by his four siblings, George Townsend of Dagsboro, DE, Georgeanna Mowbray of Frankford, DE, Glen Townsend of Millsboro, DE and Shane Townsend of Clarksville, DE; also his best friend, Alfred Marshall and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held from 9-11 AM on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher St., Frankford, DE 19945, where a funeral service will begin at 11 AM.  Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Dagsboro, DE.
