Cora L. Burgan, age 88, of Ocean View, Delaware, formerly of Baltimore, Maryland, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 25, 2026, in the comfort of her own home.

Cora was born in Baltimore, Maryland on April 10, 1937, the daughter of the late David L. Parr and Mary (Connolly) Parr. She was a graduate of Eastern High School in Baltimore, Class of 1955.

Cora was employed by the Social Security Administration from 1955 until 1985, prior to relocating to Delaware. After moving to Ocean View, she worked part-time for 28½ years as a bookkeeper at Country Wicker. During that time, she also worked for Sea Colony and Layton Associates.

Cora loved the Lord and faithfully used her gifts by volunteering her time at several local nursing homes, including Lewes Convalescent, Renaissance, and Harbor Healthcare. She was a devoted member of Mariner's Global Methodist Church, where she was deeply rooted in the Rock of Ages Ministry and the Feed My Sheep Ministry. Cora especially enjoyed planning gatherings at Grotto Pizza and sending greeting cards to her friends and family.

In addition to her parents, Cora was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Burgan, Jr.; her sister, Sue Parr and her brother-in-law, Charles "Buck" Burgan.

She is survived by her son, Vernon D. Burgan of Georgetown, Delaware; her sister-in-law, Connie Burgan of Westminster, Maryland; and her nephew, Brian Burgan, his wife Barbara, and their son, Brendin Burgan. She is also survived by dear family friends Teresa Ciekot and her husband Vernon of Dagsboro, Delaware, and their children, Cory Ciekot and Leah O'Boyle; as well as the Ciccanti family—Lori Ciccanti; Joseph Ciccanti and his wife Annie; and Dawn Marie Alcantara and her husband, Rey.

A visitation will be held from 1:00–2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View, DE 19970, where a funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Mariner's Bethel Cemetery in Ocean View, Delaware.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that attendees bring a canned good to support the Feed My Sheep Ministry at Mariner's Global Methodist Church, 81 Central Avenue, Ocean View, DE 19970.
