Colin Clifford Friend, age 78, of Lewes, DE passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at Pinnacle Health in Smyrna, DE.

He was born March 29, 1945 in Lewes, DE a son of the late Cecil Randall Friend and Hettie Evelyn (Rickards) Friend.

Mr. Friend was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U. S. Navy. For over 20 years he worked for the postal service, first as a clerk in the Lewes Post Office and later as a rural carrier in Milford, DE until his retirement.

Colin had a good heart and enjoyed sitting in his yard waving to everyone as they passed by.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Friend and two brothers, Perry and Carl Friend.

Surviving are his siblings, Junior Friend and his wife, and Barbara, William Friend, Mary Pulley, Steve Friend and his wife, Shelly, Brenda Yeager, Randy Friend and his wife, JoAnn and Carol Friend; three step children, Linda Hadder of Lewes, DE, George Hadder and his wife, Tammy of Milton, DE and William Hadder of Lewes. Colin is also survived by three grandchildren, Amanda Rogers and her husband, Ken of Georgetown, DE; George Hadder, Jr. and his wife, Alicia of Georgetown, DE and Jeremy Hadder and his wife, Kelsey of Milton, DE; six great grandchildren, Cole and Caleb Rogers of Georgetown, DE, Arabella and Hudson Hadder of Georgetown, DE, Ford and Sutton Hadder of Milton, DE and former daughter-in-law, Terry M. Brewster and her husband, Howard of Georgetown, DE.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 10 A.M. in the Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Lewes, DE.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions in Colin's name to American Legion Post #17, 113 American Legion Rd. Lewes, DE 19958 or the Lewes Volunteer Fire Company, PO Box 225, Lewes, DE 19958.
