Clifton F. Toomey, Sr., age 78, of Frankford, Delaware, peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 7, 2026, surrounded by the love and prayers of his family.

Born in Milford, Delaware, on September 10, 1947, Cliff was the son of the late Leroy C. Toomey and Alberta (Chandler) Toomey. A proud member of the Lord Baltimore High School Class of 1965, he embodied the values of hard work, faith, and dedication throughout his life.

Just three days after graduating, Cliff began his career with DuPont in Seaford. Through perseverance, leadership, and an unwavering work ethic, he rose through the ranks and retired in 2001 as Supervisor of the Bulk Continuous Filament Department after 36 years of faithful service.

Retirement marked not an ending, but a new calling. Feeling led by God to serve others through ministry, Cliff answered that call with humility and devotion. He served as pastor of Roxana United Methodist Church and Sound United Methodist Church in Selbyville for seven years, sharing God's Word and offering guidance, comfort, and encouragement to countless people along the way.

Faith was the foundation of Cliff's life. His spiritual journey began in 1972 at Roxana Wesleyan Church. He later worshiped at Millville United Methodist Church and most recently attended Hickory Hill Methodist Church in Millsboro. His commitment to service extended beyond the church walls, as he also served his community as a member of the Millville Town Council.

Cliff found joy in the simple blessings of life. He loved the outdoors and spent many happy hours hunting and fishing in his younger years. Cliff was an enthusiastic gardener, carefully tending his flowers, vegetables, and cherished houseplants. He especially enjoyed feeding the birds that gathered in his yard, often taking quiet delight in watching them from his window.

Above all else, Cliff treasured his family. He was a loving husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather whose greatest happiness came from seeing those he loved thrive. He took immense pride in his grandsons and celebrated their academic accomplishments at the University of Delaware.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 59 years, Peggy (Wilson) Toomey; his son, Clifton F. Toomey, Jr., and wife, Donna, of Millsboro; and his two grandsons, Clifton F. Toomey, III, and Harold Wayne Toomey.

Though his earthly journey has ended, Cliff's legacy of faith, kindness, service, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View, Delaware 19970. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 noon, followed by interment at St. George's Cemetery in Clarksville, Delaware.
