Charles Henry Moore, Jr., age 78, of Long Neck, DE formerly of Elsmere, DE passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, December 25, 2024 in the comfort of his own home.

Charlie was born in Wilmington, DE on August 27, 1946 son of the late Charles Henry Moore and the late Beatrice Mary (Niblett) Moore.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Charlie retired after 30 years as a painter with General Motors.  He was a member of AMVETS Post #2 and American Legion Post #28 in Millsboro, DE.  Charlie loved tending and growing roses where he made beautiful arrangements daily for his beloved wife, Susan.  He loved living in Long Neck, where he enjoyed crabbing off his dock, target shooting in his backyard, driving his new Dodge Challenger on the back country roads or riding his golfcart around Long Neck.  Charlie was a sports fan rooting for his beloved Philadelphia Eagles and Philadelphia Phillies and he also loved watching classic car auctions on the television.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved springer spangle, Harley.  Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Susan (Wilson) Moore; a sister-in-law, Robin Wilson and her husband, James Austin of Felton, DE; an aunt Nancy DeGirolano of Long Neck, DE and will also be missed by numerous cousins and friends.

A visitation will be held from 10:30-11:30 PM on Monday, January 13, 2025 at the Long Neck Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 32013 Long Neck Rd., Millsboro, DE 19966, where a funeral service will begin at 11:30 AM.  Interment will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, DE.
