Charles Robert Dixon, 80, of Frankford, Delaware, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.

Born on January 6, 1946, in Baltimore, Maryland, Charles was one of fifteen children of the late Smith Gilmore Dixon and Mary Lee (Hartsock) Dixon. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1963 to 1966 and continued his service in the Army Reserves until 1969.

After relocating to Delaware in 1980, Charles enlisted in the Delaware National Guard, where he served with distinction until his retirement in 2006, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class (E-7). During his military career, he earned recognition as a sharpshooter with the pistol.

Charles was a skilled electrician by trade, working in various roles throughout his career, including owning his own business, before retiring.

He found great joy in gardening, camping, and attending horse races, but above all, he cherished time spent with his family and especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret Anne (Carnes) Dixon, and twelve siblings: James, Frank, Harold, Paul, and Michael Dixon; Phyllis Jean Barbour, Kathleen McGee, Irma Wolff, Doris Caruccio, Joyce Gwyer, Faye Salyers, and Patsy Grant.

He is survived by his two sons, Rodger A. Dixon and his wife, Rhonda, of Millsboro, Delaware, and Charles C. Dixon and his wife, Jennifer, of Frankford, Delaware; three grandchildren, Natalie Dixon and Trevor Dixon, both of Frankford, and Rylee Dixon of Millsboro; and two siblings, Carol O'Hara and Raymond Dixon.

A celebration of Charles' life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the Millsboro Volunteer Fire Company Banquet Hall, 109 E. State Street, Millsboro, Delaware.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Charles' name to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, Delaware 19963.
