Carolyn Hickman Townsend, age 81, of Millville, DE passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 31, 2025 at her home.

She was born in Beaumont, TX on February 26, 1944 daughter of the late Manaen Lynch Hickman and the late Edith (Rominger) Hickman.  Carolyn was a graduate of Lord Baltimore Class of 1962 and attended Goldey-Beacom College.  Carolyn retired from Intervet / Merck in 2014 after 25 years of service, where she made countless friends.

Carolyn served her community as a member of the Millville Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary with over 19 years of service.  She also attended the Ocean View Church of Christ and loved her church family.  Carolyn enjoyed going to the Ocean View Cheer Center, going out to dinner, taking care of her yard, gardening and canning.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip E. "Pee Wee" Townsend in 2013 and her beloved dog and constant companion, Mindy.  She is survived by a daughter, Crystal Lynn Trout and her husband, Eric; a son, Brian K. Atkins and his wife, Sue; a brother, Robert Hickman and his wife, Barbara Murray; a sister, M. Sue Murrell; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 10-11 AM on Monday, April 7, 2025 at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Rd., Ocean View, DE 19970, where a funeral service will begin at 11 AM.  Interment will follow at St. George's Cemetery in Clarksville, DE.
