Carol Jean Schap, age 83, of Frankford, Delaware, formerly of Laurel, Maryland, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, July 26, 2026.

Born in Washington, D.C. on November 22, 1942, Carol was the daughter of the late Howard Reichert and the late Jean (Hendry) Reichert.

Carol devoted more than 15 years of service as a secretary with Cray Research. Prior to her retirement, she also worked in several retail stores throughout Maryland and Delaware, where she was known for her friendly nature and strong work ethic.

A gifted knitter and cross-stitcher, Carol found great joy in creating handmade hats and scarves for children and for those in need, quietly sharing her talents with others. She was a cherished member of the Beach Chicks Knitting Club at the Bethany Beach Library, where lasting friendships and wonderful memories were made. Carol also loved spending time at the beach and could often be found enjoying the timeless sounds of doo wop music.

In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry David Schap, in 2025.

She is lovingly remembered by her niece, Wendy Norwitz of Shady Side, Maryland, and her nephew, James E. Norwitz of Westminster, Maryland.

In accordance with Carol's wishes, services and burial will be held privately.
