Capt. Robert E. Murray, Sr., age 88, of Dagsboro, DE formerly of Ridley Park, PA passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at Accent Care Hospice in Newark, DE.

Bob was born in Philadelphia, PA and was a retired tug boat captain and docking pilot working in the Port of Philadelphia.  He was a charter member and past president of the Delaware River Docking Pilots Association.

After his retirement and move to Sussex County 35 years ago, Bob enjoyed fishing, golfing and boating.  He was a mason with Athelstan Lodge #482 in Philadelphia, PA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elberta "Dolly" Murray in 2016; an infant son, Thomas Wilson Murray and three siblings, Clarence Murray, Edwin Murray and Maryann "Molly" Tripler.  He is survived by seven children, Wanda Murray (Clifton H. Murray, deceased), Robert E. Murray, Jr. and his wife, Dawn, Cynthia Murray, Sandara Greaves and her husband, David, Shawn Murray and his wife, Barbara, Lisa Murray and Nicole Curran and her husband, Jerry; 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

A Masonic Funeral will be held at 10 AM followed by a funeral service on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Rd., Ocean View, DE 19970, where friends and family may gather after 9 AM.  Interment will follow at Millville Cemetery.
