Brett David Danver passed away in Lewes, Delaware, on February 20th at the age of 52. Brett was born on December 30, 1972, in Washington, D.C., to Henry W. Danver, Jr., and Johanne Barker Danver.

Brett overcame tremendous adversity throughout his life and exuded relentless tenacity and positivity in all he did.  As a fierce competitor, Brett won his class at the prestigious Devon Horse Show in 1987, broke 19:00 for his personal best in the 5k run, and defeated embryonal sarcoma in 2015.

Brett graduated from Watkins Mill High School in Gaithersburg, Maryland, in 1993. While in high school, he competed for the school's cross country and track teams and worked in the school store.  In addition to his participation in high school athletics, Brett was a lifelong lover of sports.  He played tennis and basketball, rode horses since he was four, swam, and bodyboarded at his beloved home break, Third Street, Bethany Beach. He was a veritable encyclopedia of sports knowledge and a dedicated fan to his favorite teams.

After graduating high school, Brett worked for the Marriott Corporation before he began his near 20-year tenure with Giant Food. To say that he was adored by the Bethany Beach community would be a great understatement. From locals to vacationers, everyone knew Brett. While pushing carts, he made many friends with his kind smile, welcoming presence, and humorous shenanigans.  The staff and patrons of Giant truly became his extended family. Dueto his tireless work and dedication, he earned Giant Food's "Count On US Count On Me" staffer of the district in June 2023.

While Brett eagerly made new friends in the community on a daily basis, he was also fiercely loyal to his family.  He took great pride in being a member of the Danver and Barker families and let everyone know how proud he was of his family. He is predeceased by his grandparents Henry W. Danver, Sr., and Marjorie Leonard Danver and John B. Barker, Sr., and Helen Platt Barker.  He is survived by his steadfast parents, Henry and Johanne, loving siblings, Danielle (Jessy), Shannon (Olaf), and Brian (Katie), and nieces and nephews to whom he was Godfather: Caroline, Molly, Taylor, and Brady Layne, Desmond, Colin, and Henry van Yperen, and James, Emily, and Casey Danver.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Lewes, Delaware. The event will also be livestreamed on St. Peter's YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJ_WNPpqjDStmsEXm1dEMcQ
