Barry Townsend, age 75, of Ocean View, DE went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 13, 2025 in the comfort of his home.  He was a soldier for the Lord and couldn't wait to be in the arms of his Savior.

Barry was born in Ocean View, DE on January 20, 1950 son of the late Louis G. Townsend and the late Belva (Quillen) Townsend.  He was an evangelist for 40 years and a member of Blackwater Fellowship Church.  He preached at many churches to win souls for Jesus.  He loved his family and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his grandsons, L.J. and Shawn.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dee Townsend in 2011.  Barry is survived by his two daughters, Tracy Hurley and Jill Dixon; two grandsons, L.J. Dixon and Shawn Hurley; two great grandchildren, Gracie Cox and Lincoln Dixon and a sister, Janet Cooper.

A visitation will be held from 12 noon to 1 PM on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher St., Frankford, DE 19945, where the funeral service will begin at 1 PM.  Interment will follow at St. George's Cemetery in Clarksville, DE.
