Barbara Ann Rust, 87, of Frankford, Delaware, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of her family, on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

Born on May 16, 1938, in Dagsboro, Delaware, Barbara was the cherished daughter of the late Harold Hudson and Elizabeth (Wyatt) Hudson. A woman of remarkable dedication and work ethic, she faithfully served as a bus contractor for the Indian River School District for more than 50 years, becoming a familiar and trusted presence to generations of local families.

Barbara's faith was a cornerstone of her life. As a devoted member of St. George's United Methodist Church in Clarksville, she found great joy in lifting her voice in the choir and sharing fellowship through the church's many small groups. Her warm spirit and kind heart left a lasting impression on all who worshipped alongside her.

She will be lovingly remembered for her exceptional cooking, her welcoming home, and the quiet, steady way she cared for those around her. Above all, Barbara's greatest joy was her family. She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Harper, Sr.; her son, Paul Harper, Jr.; and her brother, Marshall Hudson.

She leaves behind a legacy of love in her devoted husband of nearly 22 years, Melvin L. Rust; her children, Terri Harper Miles, Kelly Anderson, and Kent Harper (Lisa Travalini); her grandchildren, Kevin Anderson, Karen Anderson, Kaitlin Rogers (Jonathan), and Storm Miles; and nine great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry her memory forward with love and gratitude.

A private graveside service will be held at Blackwater Cemetery in Frankford, Delaware.
