Anthony "Tony" J. Nicastro, age 87, of Frankford, DE formerly of Hyattsville, MD passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, DE.

Born on January 10, 1936 in Washington, D.C. to Nicholas Nicastro and Mary Longo. He was raised in D.C. and graduated from DeMatha Catholic High School. He grew up with Cynthia and they began dating when she turned 18 and married her when she turned 19 in 1959. They were together until her passing in 2019.

Tony served his country in the Army Reserves and worked for the Library of Congress, retiring in 1994.

He loved to tell stories of his childhood and grandparents. He will be remembered as someone who never met a stranger and made friends easily. He was a man of tremendous faith and attended Mass daily either in person or virtually. He was also a master gardener, had a great sense of humor and was a great lover of animals. His other hobbies included stamp collecting and saltwater fishing.

In addition to his parents and loving wife Cynthia, Tony was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Nicastro; granddaughter Mary Elizabeth Wood; and four siblings, Nunzio Nicastro, Anna Heidenberg (Mike), Nancy Sanders (Olin "Sandy") and Grace Chaconas (George).

He is survived by his daughter Michelle Neafsey (Michael); grandchildren Stephanie Wood and Cara Wood and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at St Ann Catholic Church, 691 Garfield Parkway, Bethany Beach, DE 19930 where friends and family may gather after 11 AM. Interment will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Dagsboro, DE.
