Ann D. Baker, age 98 of Millsboro, DE and New Castle, DE died peacefully on Sunday, August 9, 2026 at Christiana Hospital surrounded by her family.

Ann was predeceased by her beloved husband Willam J Baker Sr., her parents, Dennis A. and Anna M. Dougherty, and her three brothers Dennis, Francis and Joseph.

Ann was a homemaker, a retired secretary, a former member of Beebe Healthcare Volunteers, and a member of The Columbiettes Bishop James C. Burke Council Auxiliary #11285.

Born and raised in Wilmington, Ann graduated from Claymont High School in 1946, and attended Goldey Beacom College. Ann and Bill raised three children in New Castle and were former members of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Upon retirement they settled on the Indian River in Millsboro where they were members of Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church, Indian River Yacht Club and enjoyed life to its fullest on the river.

Ann is survived by her three children, William J Baker Jr, and his wife Linda of Middletown,Denise B Sherwood and her husband Jeffrey of New Castle, and Thom Baker of New York; Five grandchildren, Brittney White (Ben), William J Baker III, Kelly Columbus (Nicholas), Jeffrey Sherwood, Jr. (Sarah), Matthew Sherwood (Ashley) and nine great grandchildren, Charles and Libby White, Noah, Lucas and Levi Columbus, Cole Flanagan and Jeffrey Sherwood III, Rowan and Maesen Sherwood.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 from 10 - 11:00 am at Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church, 30839 Mt Joy Road, Millsboro, DE 19966 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11. Interment will follow at All Saints Episcopal Cemetery, 20274 Beaver Dam Rd, Harbeson, DE 19957.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to Bishop JC Burke Columbiettes Council # 1285, PMB1b Unit 1 24832 John J Williams Highway, Millsboro, DE 19966
